Critical Thinking
For critical thinking I chose an assignment that really stuck out to me and what really had me thinking, this assignment sounded so fascinating to me so that is the reason why I chose this topic. In English class we picked a topic and we researched on that topic. My group chose children affected by war, in this presentation we listed impacts on children caused by wars and ways we can make wars more less damaging. While doing some research I didn't quite understand what most were saying and I knew there were more reasons why it impacted than being that there was a war, so I did my own research by asking Bigelow and got lots more information, l learned that children are more affected than adults and that they usually depend on someone to care for them, so if a parent has died in a war they would be put into an orphanage and someone who would be caring for them would care less than their parent. So for this assignment not only did I had to think outside of the box to find more information but I did my own research and asked others that I wanted to learn more about how children were affected by war and not just the usual answer that it was because they were part of the war so it affected them. At first to me all this assignment was about how and why children were affected by war, to me all I was thinking before starting it was that it was because it was war so who wouldn't be affected by it. While doing this assignment the first step I had to do was analyze the subject, so I started listing reasons why children were affected by war and all I got was because it was war. I then started doing research and there were so many reasons that I wouldn't of thought of, the list just kept going on and on. After doing research I learned a lot about war and why children would be affected by it. Then it got me thinking, I thought about if it were me and if I were in that position, I wouldn't be the same after and if one of my parents died I would feel lonely like the children in the presentation, it said that they would know that it weren't the same if their parent were gone. So to me this assignment would fit into critical thinking because I was able to analyze this assignment thoroughly and I was able to research more and more to where it got me thinking to if I were in that position what I would do and what I would be thinking. So I believe that this assignment is critical thinking.
