The Desired Results of Student Learning (DRSL's) shows examples of the work I had done from my classes of my Junior and Senior year, which falls under these categories.
Critical Thinking, Edward Glaser, in An Experiment in the development of Critical Thinking, (1941), defines critical thinking as follows: "(1) an attitude of being disposed to consider in a thoughtful way the problems and subjects that come within the range of one's experiences, (2) knowledge of the methods of logical inquiry and reasoning, and (3) some skill in applying those methods. Critical thinking calls for a persistent effort to examine any belief or supposed form of knowledge in the light of the evidence that supports it and the further conclusions to which it tends."
Effective Communication, a work that shows six basic traits of excellent writing: strong organization, well-developed ideas, appropriate voice, sentence fluency, interesting and appropriate word choice, and standard writing conventions.
Integration and application of knowledge in civic, social and personal contexts (IAKCSPC), education at AMES is designed to help you think about your learning in the "real world" contexts outside of school---in your civic responsibilities, social relationships, and personal life.
